In 2000, Sam moved back to Europe, this time to Lisbon, Portugal.  Once again, in a short period of time he integrated himself into Portuguese society, working at the U.S. Embassy, Clube 7, the NATO military base, the 2º Regimento de Lanceiros, and the Centro das Tropas Aero Transportadas de Tancos, all the while continuing private consulting.

In 2003, he began an intensive training regime in Krav Maga, under the personal tutelage of Mr. Najim Elkebar, 4th degree black belt, head of the Academy Krav Maga and one of the world's most prestigious Krav Maga trainers.  In order to improve, Sam travels frequently to the Academy Krav Maga in Marseille. During the past 4 years, he has participated in over 30 international seminars. In 2004, Sam became one of two coaches for the Associação Portuguesa de Krav Maga (Portuguese Krav Maga Association), in charge of training future instructors, and has become one of the principal Krav Maga references in Portugal.
He then was nominated as the official representative of the Academy Krav Maga.
In January 2006, in partnership with Najim Ellkebar and the Clube 7, Sam opened the First Krav Maga Training Center in Portugal, with the unique goal of providing self defense to both the general public and to law enforcement agents and military and security personnel.  The Center has, by the hand of Sam Lumpini and his staff, organized seminars and workshops around the country, including Lisbon, Évora, Barreiro, Coimbra, and Braga.
Sam continues to provide his services to a broad array of trainees, ranging from police officers to marines, rangers, and Special Forces staff.
During his stay in Toronto, as a Door Manager, Head Chief Security, and body guard, Sam had the opportunity to work with stars such as Robert de Niro, Michael Jordan, Carrie Anne Moss, Tony Denza, Matt Dillon, Uma Thurman, Sean Penn and Quentin Tarantino. SAM LUMPINI (AKA Sam Liaoui) began training combat sports in 1983, at age 18. He began practicing boxe francaise savate and,

within a few years, won several provincial and national titles.  He then moved on to boxing, Muay Thai, and kickboxing, ranking number one in Europe, as a professional (WKA), in 1990.  At the end of 1990, he retired from the competition circuit after dominating his division in France and Europe, and traveled extensively to Thailand to train and compete in Muay Thai.

In 1989-90, Sam's experience and services as a coach were solicited in Germany (Berlin), and in 1991 he decided to leave Europe to begin a new life, first in the U.S. (New York City) and later in Canada (Toronto).

In a short period of time, Sam became one of the most renowned pieds-poings experts in Canada.  In 1995, he opened his own business, the Lumpini Stadium, and for five years he dedicated his time to teaching and training future champions. During this period, Sam initiated himself into different martial arts (Pancrace, Sambo, Grappling, and Brazilian Jiu JitSu) and finally created his own style, Lumpini Street Fighting.
